Play and Learn Group

Our Play and Learn Group met at our house last week and our theme was Apples!  With three 3/4 yr olds and three 18-24 month olds there was never a dull moment!  We had a great time!  Here are a few of our activities!

We started our lesson by reading "Ten Apples Up On Top" by Dr. Seuss.

Next we said a little poem:
Way up high in the apple tree
Two little apples smiled down at me.
I shook that tree as hard as I could,
Down came the apples,
Mmmm, they were good!

Here's Elliott and Lilly doing some of the movements to the poem.

Here's a picture of Ben and Lilly trying to find where the missing letters go on the felt alphabet.

We also had a felt tree with apples.  We sang "One little, two little, three little apples..." as the kids placed the apples on the tree.

Next we had to get ready for some activities in the kitchen with real apples.  Holly was able to make these cute aprons for all of the kids, so we had to get a pic!!

Here are some of our apple activities in the kitchen:

We cut the apples open to see what was inside.

We took turns using the apple corer/slicer/peeler.
We ate many, many apples while we were working!  It was fun to see how long of a peel we could make!

Here's Jacob making apple prints

Lilly loves to do the arts and crafts!

We made applesauce, here's Oliver using the potato masher to mash up the cook apples.

This was a wonderful way to spend our morning!  I can't wait to have more fun times with this great group!
